POEM TO HARMINA

HARMINA....
A pioneering woman
A woman of guts and grace
Entering a strange country
Attempting to find her place
She had 6 spirited daughters
(and a husband in tow, as well)
To ferry across the waters
Would this country be heaven or hell?
Now that I have daughters and sons
I have an inkling of what she went through
To face all the newness and difference
That's really conquered by only a few
All the hard and tough and good times
Have made her who she is
A woman with courage yet vulnerable
Embracing all of life as it is
How amazing that my Mum is 90!
How fantastic she's still on the move!
She's still here to talk, laugh and joke with
We're friends who have nothing to prove
So Mum, here's to you and your life
We're all here to celebrate together
May there be many more times just like this
Simply put - we'll love you forever and ever!
